Elma (Keinanen) Olshewski, 93, of Manchester, widow of Joseph J. Olshewski, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at an area convalescent home.

Elma was born in Mount Holly, Vt., on May 21, 1920, daughter of Robert and Anna (Damala) Keinanen. She was raised in Vermont and had been a Manchester resident since the early 1940s. She was employed as a supply clerk at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company and was then a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. After returning to Manchester, Elma was employed at the MetLife insurance office in Manchester for many years and was a communicant of St. Bridget Church.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Jean Bonato and her husband, Donald, of Guilford, Claire Trengrove and her husband, Edward, of Manchester, Peter Olshewski and his wife, Maureen, of Woodstock, and Stephen Olshewski of Manchester; six grandchildren, William and David Bonato, Kate and Jennifer Trengrove, Heather Jurnovoy, and Michelle Salvas; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her husband she was predeceased by a sister, Leila McDonald.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 4, at 9:45 a.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be private, and there are no calling hours.
