Emma A. (DeCaro) Massaro, formerly of Enfield, entered peacefully into eternal life at the age of 96 on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012. Emma was the beloved wife of 67 years to James W. Massaro Sr. who preceded her in death, and daughter of the late Angelina and Niccolo DeCaro.
The Guest Book is expired.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1916, and was a lifelong resident of Enfield until her elder years when she relocated to the Boston area to be closer to her son and grandchildren. Emma was happiest when spending time with her family, cooking, and tending to the duties around the house. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, was an active member of St. Patrick's Parish, and (much to her family's dismay) was an avid Yankees fan. Active until the end of her life, Emma recently attended her granddaughter's wedding on Cape Cod where she sipped wine with family and friends.
Emma is survived by a son, James W. Massaro Jr. and his wife, Theodora; grandchildren Traci Massaro, James W. Massaro III, Kristen Massaro, and Todd Burns, a cherished great-granddaughter, Theodora Jo Massaro; a sister, Lola Zirolli; sister-in-law, Jo DeCaro; and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Emma on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Enfield. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery in Enfield.
Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, is assisting her family with arrangements.
