Ervin A. Piccarello, 75, of Bolton, formerly of Coventry and East Hartford, died peacefully Monday, April 8, 2013, at his home, with his family at his side.

He was born July 19, 1937, in East Hartford, beloved son of the late Patrick and Evelyn (Chappell) Piccarello, he grew up in East Hartford and had lived in Coventry for many years before moving to Bolton in 1976, where he personally built the first of three homes for his family. Ervin worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator all his life. He worked for Reichle Construction, MJM Construction, and Twin Oaks Construction. He was very knowledgeable in his trade and loved doing what he did. He always kept himself busy with his small farm at home, helping his daughters build their houses and whatever other projects came along. You could always count on him to be there and have whatever tool, nut, or bolt that you would need.
Mr. Piccarello is survived by two daughters and a son, Lisa J. Stratton, and her husband, Edward, of Andover, Donna M. Kinney, and her companion, John "Jay" Zamperini, both of Colchester, Brian A. Piccarello of Bolton, and his companion, Lauren Bespuda; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Kinney of Andover and Matthew Kinney of Bolton. Other survivors include his sister, Lois Logan, and her husband, Richard, of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Ervin was predeceased by two sisters, Lorraine Ano and Barbara Archer, and a brother, Harold Piccarello.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in East Hartford. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
