Florence Ruth "Florrie" Stetson, 97, of Manchester, died Monday, July 8, 2013.

She was a kind-hearted woman who made friends easily. She had a green thumb, and made the best apple pie and banana bread. She loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, visiting Maine, musicals, and books. She loved to laugh and possessed a dry British wit. Florence grew up in New York City. Before marriage, she worked in a home for blind babies. A woman of strong faith, she taught Sunday school in Brooklyn for over 20 years.
She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, George F. Stetson; her grandson Philip Stetson; her sister Hazel Blodow; and her daughter-in-law Pamelyn Stetson. She is survived by three sons; Robert Stetson and his wife, Mary, of Milwaukee, Wis., Jack Stetson of Manchester, Raymond Stetson and his wife, Rosemary, of Titusville, Fla.; her daughter Nancy Stetson of Cape Coral, Fla.; and grandchildren Christopher Stetson, Peter Stetson, Rebecca Davis, and her husband, Kyle, and Christine Grace and her husband, Mark.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Community Baptist Church, 585 E. Center St., Manchester. Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Westminster section of the East Cemetery.
