Francis Irving Maston, 90, formerly of Lyndale Street in Manchester, husband of the late Margaret K. (Sardella) Maston, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at a local convalescent home.

He was born in Hartford on Dec. 2, 1923, son of Hiram and Nellie (Gilligan) Maston, and moved to Manchester when he was a young boy. He was a veteran of World War II, enlisting in the U.S. Navy and serving on various ships in the European and Asian theaters. Prior to retiring in 1988, Fran was a machinist at Dynamic Metals Manufacturing.
He is survived by three children, John Maston and his wife, Alison, of Bolton, Shirley Stafford and her husband, Ernest, of Manchester, and Brian Maston of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Wayne Maston and his wife, Crystal, Lauren Maston, Stephen Maston, Kelly Maston, Tierney Maston, Aaron Stafford, and Ashley Stafford; a great-grandson, Jaxon Stafford, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services and burial in the East Cemetery in Manchester with military honors will be private.
There are no calling hours.
