Gladys Louise (Tonkinson) Blozie, 95, of Columbia, beloved wife of the late Edward G. Blozie, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at home.

Born in Hartford on July 5, 1918, daughter of the late John and Doramine (Sonnichesen) Tonkinson, she lived in South Windsor most of her life, moving to Columbia 15 years ago. Before retiring in 1988 she was a quality control inspector for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, Hartford Tool and Die and Dynamic Controls for many years. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, and was an avid bird watcher.
She leaves her children, David Blozie of South Windsor and Dorothy Morrill, and her husband, John, of Columbia; two grandchildren, Erika Blozie of Cleveland, Ohio, and Scott Blozie of Philadelphia, Pa.; former daughter-in-law, Linda Blozie of South Windsor; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Rosemary Blozie of Windsor; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Blozie; a brother, Herbert Tonkinson; and a sister, Anna Tonkinson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor, followed by burial at Wapping Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.
In lieu of flowers and because of her love of them, especially roses, memorial donations may be made to the Elizabeth Park Conservancy, 1561 Asylum Ave., West Hartford, CT 06117.
