Harriet (Gagne) Batchelder, 92, a lifelong resident of Enfield, died early Sunday morning, Feb. 3, 2013, at Johnson Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Springfield to Henry Gagne and Rose Emma Gordon on March 9, 1920. Harriet was the devoted wife of 59 years to the late Richard J. "Batch" Batchelder, who passed away on March 3, 2007. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was employed for many years cooking for the residents at St. Joseph's Little Sisters of the Poor until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Bernard Church and a former longtime parishioner of Holy Family Church, both of Enfield. Some of her favorite pastimes included cooking for her family, sewing, and reading. She will be forever remembered by her family as a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Harriet leaves three loving children, Lynn A. Santanella, and her fiancé, Rick Daigle, of East Windsor, Dr. Barbara J. Batchelder Bradley, and her husband, Barry, of Bloomfield, and Richard H. Batchelder, and his wife, Dianna, of Enfield; her sister, Beatrice "Bea" Doherty of Enfield; her brother, Roland Gagne of Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Richard Santanella Jr., and his wife, Heather, Peter Santanella, and his wife, Amy, Zachary and Luke Bradley, Marc Sitler, and his wife, Vanessa, Rachel, Sarah, and Ricky Batchelder and Kasey Daigle; two great-granddaughters, Hailey and Kelsey; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Her family would also like to extend a special thanks to her dear friend and caregiver, Irena Fornil.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 9 a.m. from the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave., with Rites of Committal to conclude at St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery, all in Enfield.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
