Helen (Dziadul) Umberfield, 91, of South Windsor, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018.

Helen was born to Joseph and Victoria (Gurski) Dziadul March 11, 1927, in Lebanon. She spent her childhood growing up on her family's poultry farm. Helen attended school in Lebanon and graduated with a business degree from Bryant College in Providence, Rhode Island. She was a stay-at-home mom to her treasured sons for many years, but then worked for the South Windsor education system as a special ed reading teacher for 31 years. Helen was a no-nonsense soul with a heart of gold. She volunteered her time at the soup kitchen and was the first to make a meal for someone or reach out to anyone in need of a helping hand. Helen was an incredible cook and won many awards for various recipes. She loved to travel and made many excursions overseas. She also loved animals of all sorts, especially her own dogs and those of family members.

Helen leaves her devoted spouse of 67 years, Walter S. Umberfield; as well as her two beloved sons, Wayne Umberfield of South Windsor and Bob Umberfield of Edgecomb, Maine. She had one grandson, Alex Umberfield, who she adored and was so proud of. She also leaves her loving niece, Martha Dziadul Doak and her family, Richard Sr., Richard Jr., and Hannah; as well as two sisters-in-law, Teri Dziadul of Enfield and June McNally of Avon. Helen was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Frank, John, and Joseph Dziadul.

Per her request there will be no services.
