Helen V. Flanagan, of Enfield, entered peacefully into eternal life, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Suffield House. She was the beloved wife of 51 years to the late William W. Flanagan, and daughter of the late John and Mary Moticka.

Helen was born on Feb. 24, 1920, in Newark, N.J., and had resided in Enfield for the past eight years and in New Mexico before that. She was a graduate of Stratford High School, Stratford, and continued her education at Booth & Bayliss Business School in Bridgeport. A devout Catholic, Helen was a member of St. Martha Church in Enfield and the Legion of Mary, as well as a member of the fitness center and book club at the Enfield Senior Citizen Center. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling.
Helen is survived by her stepdaughter, Sandra Schroeder of Illinois; step-granddaughter, Jill Nicole Schroeder of California; her great-nieces and nephews; Luanne Gagnon of Windsor Locks, Joanne Jambard of Enfield, Robert Moticka of Windsor Locks, and Daniel Moticka of East Windsor; along with several grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends may gather during calling hours on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Martha Church, 214 Brainard Road, Enfield. Interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
