Helene C. (Pagnoni) Halligan, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with her loving family at her side after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was the widow of the late Henry M.J. Halligan Jr. She was also predeceased by her longtime partner, Armand Lescault.

Helene was born on Jan. 22, 1942, in Springfield, the daughter of the late Amedeo and Helena (Diggins) Pagnoni. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School Class of 1959. She worked at Liberty Mutual where she met her husband and later retired from Phoenix Home Life Insurance Co. She enjoyed traveling, listening to Irish music, and lunches with her special friends, but most of all she loved spending time with her cherished grandchildren. Helene was always there for anyone who needed her. She was a very outgoing person with a kind heart. To know her was to love her. She will be dearly missed and forever have a place in our hearts.

Helene is survived by her children, Michael Halligan and wife, Beth, Nancy Hesse and son-in-law, Robert, and Thomas Halligan and wife, Kim; her cherished grandchildren, Jon, Sara, Hannah, Ryan, and McKenna; her sister, Ann Kaplan and husband, Sam; nephew, Eric Kaplan and wife, Rina, their children, Sam and Cameron; and her niece, Kristine Kaplan.

Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, from noon to 2 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, followed by a memorial and remembrance service with the Rev. John Melnick officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield.
