Henry A. Wanczyk Sr., of Enfield, entered into eternal life on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Johnson Memorial Medical Center.

Henry was born on Sept. 13, 1927, in Tarrytown, N.Y., the son of the late Anthony and Agnes Wanczyk, and had resided in Enfield for many years. He served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Henry retired from Dunham Bush, West Hartford, after 30 years and had also worked at Hamilton Standard/Sunstrand. He was a fire commissioner with the Shaker Pines Fire Department. He was also very involved with helping people in the AA Program and played Santa Claus yearly for the town of Enfield.

Henry is survived by his beloved wife of 13 years, Aniela (Gryszan) Wanczyk; his children, Ellen S. Henriquez of Holyoke, Mass., Henry A. Wanczyk Jr., and his wife, Brenda, of Enfield, and Virginia VanNess, and her husband, Kirk, of Brimfield, Mass.; and stepchildren. His six grandchildren, Michael Rossman of Westfield, Mass., Jacqueline Monette of Ludlow, Mass., William Perry of Enfield, Alysha Wanczyk of Enfield, Brian Wanczyk of Enfield, and Christian Henriquez of Westfield, Mass.; and step-grandchildren, along with five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty J. Wanczyk.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Weaver officiating at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery, Enfield.
