James J. Donovan, 59, of Coventry, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1953, in Hartford, the son of the late Albert and Mary (Vassallo) Donovan. He was an amazing father, son, brother, and friend to all. He worked at Pratt & Whitney for many years repairing and plasma spraying jet engines. He had a great sense of humor and an infectious smile that would light up any room. James will be truly missed.
He leaves behind his two beautiful daughters, Katie and Ashley Donovan, both of Coventry; his stepchildren, Jeremy Giglio of Meriden, Justin Giglio of Coventry, Bryan Giglio of San Diego, Calif., Brett Giglio of Coventry, and Juanita Giglio of Manchester; his sister, Joyce Ann Cicerchia, and her husband, John, of Coventry; two nephews, Joel and Jeffrey Cicerchia, both of Coventry. He also leaves his loving best friend, Kim Violette of Coventry; and his best childhood friend, Jay Kopecki of Coventry.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for calling hours on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. funeral home service at the Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Turnpike (Route 44) Coventry.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to help defray the cost of the funeral.
