James "Jim, Jimmy" Melville, 64, of Vernon, unexpectedly passed away at his home from a massive heart attack Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013.

Born in Queens, N.Y., he was the son of the late Daniel Melville and Lillian (Danner) Melville. He went to college at Quinnipiac College where he met the love of his life, Pat. Jim resided in Vernon for 30 years. Jim had a career in insurance, working for 31 years at The Hart-ford and an additional 10 years with Travelers. He had multiple insurance designations and especially enjoyed training and teaching new hires as well as others. Jim loved to hike, fish, golf, and play cards. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Patricia Melville; his daughter, Jennifer Ohlendorf, his son-in-law Erich Ohlendorf; his granddaughter Ella Skye Ohlendorf (to whom he was known as Pop Pop); his sister Susan D'Angeli; his brother-in-law Jim D'Angeli; his nephew Joe D'Angeli; his niece Sue King; his sisters-in-law Mary Munn and Noreen Zullo; his nieces Linda Reynolds and Rachel Crawford; as well as countless other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be private.
Although he will be sadly missed, Jim's kind spirit and the true love he had for his family will live on indefinitely in the hearts of those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers donations in Jim's memory can be made to Hockanum Valley Community Council Inc. (HVCC) in Vernon, Conn., his favorite charity.
