Jason Shaia, 41, of Manchester, loving son of Joan (Octtorovich) Shaia of West Hartford and the late Michael Shaia, died unexpectedly in Manchester on Monday, March 18, 2013.

Jay was born in Manchester on April 18, 1971, and was a lifelong Manchester resident. He was employed as a cook at the City Canteen in the Federal Building in Hartford, and was an avid Miami Dolphins football fan.

He is survived by his mother, his brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Lisa Octtorovich of Windsor; brother, David Slominski of Norwalk; niece, Sarah Slominski; godparents, Barbara Gibbons and Thomas Daley; and numerous cousins and friends.

Visiting hours will be Sunday, March 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, followed by a service at 4 p.m. Burial will be private in Elm Grove Cemetery in Windsor.

In lieu of flowers please say a prayer or purchase a Mass card from your church in his name.
