Jeanette V. (Byrne) Woods, 73, of South Windsor, beloved wife of the late George H. Woods Jr., died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, on April 11, 1939, daughter of the late Nicholas and Constance (Ferguson) Byrne, she had lived in South Windsor for the past 50 years. Jeanette came to the United States when she was 17 years old and worked to bring her parents and six siblings here and set-up a job for her father at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. She was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Windsor, and a past member of the Irish American Home in Glastonbury. Jeanette enjoyed being active, going to the gym, dancing, and roller skating but also loved just relaxing on the beach. A strong woman who overcame many obstacles in her life, she would give everything she had, even when she had very little. Her love and care for her family will never be forgotten.

She leaves two sons and three daughters, George P. Woods of South Windsor, David J. Dutton of Glastonbury, Belinda M. Woods of Huntington, N.Y., Darlene W. Morgan, and her husband, Daniel P. Morgan, of Stafford, and Kim Woods Bentley, and her husband, Karl, of Breckenridge, Colo.; two brothers, Nicholas Bryne of Vernon and Gerald Byrne of Dunnellon, Fla.; two sisters, Monica Banta, and her husband, Rey, of Ellington, and C. Muriel Byam, and her husband, Nicholas, of Andover; six grandchildren, Ryan and Alicia Morgan, Bailey, Sage, and Riley Dutton, and William Bentley; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may gather Friday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor. Burial will follow at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.

Her family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the South Windsor Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 705, South Windsor, CT 06074.
