Jennie Amy Robinson, 89 years of age and resident of Manchester, went home to the Lord on Friday, July 5, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

She was born May 13, 1924, in Aberystwyth, Wales, of Gladys Cranch (Putt) MacLeod and Donald Edward John MacLeod. As a young woman, she lived in London during the "Blitz" of World War II and subsequently worked as a teletype operator for the British Admiralty in London and as a secretary for the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Office in Paris, France. She met her husband, Glynn Ole Robinson of Ashland, Maine, in Paris, and they married in London, England, on January 4, 1947. Jennie and her husband lived in England until 1954, when they moved to Thompsonville and then to Hazardville in 1959. They then moved to Manchester in 1972. A dynamic and indefatigable mother and homemaker, she encouraged and supported her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in their interests and goals. She was a loving and giving spirit who embraced friends and strangers alike. She loved singing, music, theater, and wit. Many hearts were lightened by her humor and care. Jennie will always be remembered for her kindness, laughter, love, and compassion for others. She was a 39-year member of Trinity Covenant Church, where she sang in the choir and the Christmas cantata, and was a member of the music committee, bible study groups, and women's groups.

Jennie is survived by her husband. Glynn, and their two children; Dawne Robinson Gagnon and her husband, Laurence, of Manchester and David Ellery Robinson of Alexandria, Va. Jennie is also survived by her grandchildren; Gwyneth Amy (Browne-Gagnon) Morrison of Manchester, Ian Laurence Gagnon and his wife, Shannon, of Tolland, Amy Cecelia Robinson of Washington, D.C., and Sarah Corinne Robinson of Sherman Oaks, Calif. Jennie has four great-grandchildren; Evan, Quientin, Gavin, and Laralyn Morrison of Manchester; and Jennie's two younger siblings, Donald MacLeod of Lansing, England, and Trudy Gray of San Antonio, Texas. Jennie is also survived by her nephews Michael Gray and Nelson MacLeod; her niece Laura MacLeod; and her former son-in-law, Philip Browne of Manchester. She is predeceased by her parents; her daughter-in-law Cecelia Lee Robinson; and nephews Paul Gray and Alex MacLeod.

Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Trinity Covenant Church, 302 Hackmatack St., Manchester.
