Joel R. Thurston, 52, of Windsor Locks, passed on after a brief illness on Jan. 28, 2013, to be with our Lord and Savior.

He leaves behind his wife, Joann Thurston; his father, Luther K. Stone; and his grandmother, Hildred Harris. Joel also leaves behind his children, Heather and Lee, Justin and Courtney, Bryan and Nicole, Zachary, Derek, Shanna, Amber, and Garrett; his grandchildren, Aydin, Laci, Destini, Emma, Isabella, Cameron, and Evan; his sisters and brother, Lynn Thurston, Andrew and Kathy Stone, and Jean and Richard Rinaldi; several beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many close and beloved friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Glennis Stone.
A resident of Windsor Locks for most of his life, Joel was a member of the Army National Guard for several years. He was employed for over 25 years by Camerota Truck Parts, where he had many dear friends. Joel had many interests and enjoyed life to the fullest.
A funeral service celebrating Joel's life will be held at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
His family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home during calling hours on Thursday, Jan. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m.
