Johannes "Joe" M. Swart, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest at the age of 80, on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare in Enfield. Joe was the beloved husband of 58 years to Corice (Williams) Swart and son of the late Meindert and Wilma (DeJong) Swart.

He was born on April 25, 1932, in Whitinsville, Mass., and had resided in Enfield since 1957 and in Manchester before that. Joe served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a self-employed builder for many years and prior to that worked at Pratt & Whitney in the Willgoos Lab for 12 years. In his earlier years he was an avid bowler, he also enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, and cribbage and was a Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, but his greatest joy was his family, especially the grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Corice, Joe is also survived by his children, Cynthia Wills of Port Charlotte, Fla., Joseph Swart, and his wife, Linda, Michael Swart and Amy Swart, all of Enfield; his son-in-law, Donald Pelletier of Ellington; his nine grandchildren, Jennifer and Dustin Pelletier, Michael Wills, Joseph Jr., Andrew and Holly Swart, Bryan and William Swart, and Amanda Wilcox; and a great-granddaughter, Lauryn. He also leaves behind his siblings, Marvin and Geraldine Hooker, Gerrit and Dixie Swart, Carl Swart, Mildred and Fred Van Dergraff, and Frank and Kathy Swart; along with many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa J. Pelletier; and two sons, Thomas M. Swart and Robert "Robby" W. Swart; also a brother, Sidney Swart.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a memorial and remembrance service with the Rev. David Williams officiating and military honors at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield. Interment will be at the convenience of his family.
