John "Jack" B. Pelkey of Enfield entered into eternal life at the age of 89 on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass.

Jack was the beloved husband of the late Hazel (Burke) Pelkey. He was born on June 17, 1924, in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, son of the late Earl and Mae (Phaneuff) Pelkey. Jack was a graduate of Enfield High School. He then enlisted and served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon returning from the service, Jack was employed by Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. in Thompsonville and then worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 32 years, retiring many years ago. He was a lifelong resident of Enfield. Jack had a passion for flying, was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his loving family. He was a member of St. Patrick Church and active member of the Skylark Flyers EAA Chapter 1310 Inc.

Jack is survived by his children; Kathleen Pelkey and husband, Michael Hannah, of Enfield, Susan Haley of Mattapoisett, Mass., John B. Pelkey of Point Richmond, Calif., Mary Ellen Livesay and husband, Greg, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and Charles F. Pelkey of Enfield; his beloved grandchildren, Lisa, Dawn, Patrick, Katherine, Jonathan, Matthew, Timothy, Jeffrey, and Jamie; and great-grandchildren Mitchell, Jacob, Jayzlyn, Faith, and Trevon; along with his brother, Earl Pelkey of Enfield.

Friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Friday, July 12, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church in Enfield on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. (Please meet at church.) Interment with military honors will follow in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery, Enfield.
