John "Jack" Joseph Caviston Jr., age 86, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, died peacefully at Kingston Nursing Center, Conway, South Carolina, Jan. 9, 2019. Jack was the son of the late John and Helen Caviston of Carbondale, Pennsylvania.

Jack was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; eldest son, John J Caviston III; and brother, Joseph Caviston. John is survived by his children, Kevin Caviston (Beth) of Westford, Massachusetts, Dorothy Scanlon (Dwayne) of Clinton, Gerard Caviston (Anastasia), and Marianne Annunziato (Stephen) of Conway; grandchildren, Robert Scanlon, Melissa Scanlon, Michael Caviston, Christina Caviston, Patrick Caviston, and John Annunziato; great-grandson, Jameson Scanlon; and brothers, Anthony Caviston (Barbara) of New Port Richey, Florida, Frank Caviston of Cambridge, Maryland.

Jack graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1950 and then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was in the retail management industry, starting with Woolworths. He had been a member of the Lion's club and Knights of Columbus. Jack's favorite role was being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and avid fisherman.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, Murrells Inlet.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Garden City.
