John P. Malenfant, 84, of Vernon, beloved husband of the late Helen (Ramsey) Malenfant, passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.

He was born April 21, 1929, in Rochester, N.Y., son of the late Napoleon and Corrine (Grandmaison) Malenfant. He was employed at Pratt & Whitney for 25 years and 5 months before retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed bowling for over 40 years; he was an avid Red Sox fan and loved playing softball. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Rockville.
He is survived by his children, Linda Schwensfier and her husband, Robert, of Tolland, John E. Malenfant and his wife, Patricia, of West Hartford, Joseph Malenfant and his wife, Luce, of East Windsor, and Lisa Scott and her husband, William, of Manchester. He also leaves his grandchildren Michele, Katie, Derek, Nicole, Crista, Jennifer, Heather, Shannon, and Willie; as well as his great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Madeline, Jenna, Chuck, and Madison.
Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, from 4 to 6 p.m.
A funeral home service will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
