John Thomas Porcello, 83, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest Monday, Oct. 8, 2018. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Dolores C. (Kagan) Porcello.

Born in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, March 27, 1935, to the late Elio and Colodra (Patronogio) Porcello, he was a lifelong resident of Enfield. He attended school locally and was a graduate of Enfield High School, Class of 1957. John then enlisted into the service and was a member of the U.S. Army. Prior to retiring John was employed with Della Construction, Co. for 24 years and with Mather Construction.

Having enjoyed basketball, baseball, and softball, he was an avid sports fan especially of the Red Sox and Celtics. He was a bowling coach and teacher, secretary/treasurer of Shaker Commercial Bowling League for many years, and he started the Enfield Rec. Basketball organization.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his three children, Keith Porcello and wife, Diane, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, Nancy Hunter and husband, Mark, of Pawcatuck, and Karl Porcello and Pam Moriarty of Manchester, New Hampshire; his beloved grandchildren, Kent, Kayci, Kristin, Matthew, and Kaleb; and great-grandchild, Elia; along with many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his siblings, James, Angie, Agnes, Lillian, Gena, Charlie, Mary, Anthony, Ida, and Nancy.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon followed by a memorial service at noon. Burial will be private.
