Ken grew up in Somerville, Mass., where he was a standout basketball player. He went on to graduate from Rhode Island State University, where he played for the Running Rams in the late 1940s, received national accolades, was inducted into the URI Hall of Fame, and met the love of his life, Sally Keleher. He married Sally in 1950, went on to fight in the Korean War, earned a master's of education from Springfield College and helped raise their five children in Springfield, Vt., and South Windsor. Ken worked as an administrator, teacher, and coach before leaving education and running a small business until retiring to Florida in 1990. In addition to being an avid golfer, a setback player, and a Red Sox fan, Ken loved history and geography.

Besides his wife, Sally, Ken is survived by his four sons and a daughter, Kenneth Jr. of South Windsor, Thomas, and his wife, Marie, of Telluride, Colo., James, and his wife, MaryBeth, of Hudson, Mass., John, and his wife, Lisa, of Narragansett, R.I., and Jane Robinson, and her husband, Steven, of South Windsor. Ken is survived by eight grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held in Dunedin, Fla., and a celebration of Ken's life will take place in the South Windsor area. The date and location will be announced at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the South Windsor Rotary Club, P.O. Box 491, South Windsor, CT 06074.

I ran into Ken while I was in the Army during the Korean War and recognized him as a basketball standout at RI State. I don't remember exactly where it was, maybe Ft Dix but he very friendly, nice and outgoing person. I never forgot the meeting and very sorry to hear of his passing.
