Leo A. Szymanski, 53, of Windsorville, beloved husband of Nancy (Herrick) Szymanski, passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013.

He was born Sept. 15, 1959, in Hartford, son of Charles and Rose (Morawski) Szymanski. Leo was a communicant of St. Catherine Church and was a Knight of Columbus third degree. He was a constable of East Windsor and a chairman of the East Windsor Conservation Commission. He also volunteered for the Broad Brook Fire Department, was a member of the Broad Brook Angling Club, the East Windsor Society for Detection of Horse Thieves and Robbers, and a member of the Mustache Club in East Windsor as well as the German Club.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons Leo A. Szymanski Jr. and Edward G. Szymanski; his brothers Charles Szymanski and his wife, Gail, and Ted Szymanski and his wife, Cindy, all of Windsorville. He also leaves his father- and mother-in-law Carl and Barbara Herrick of Leesburg, Fla.; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael and Patty Herrick and Donna and Gary Dallman; as well as his nieces and nephews Andrew and his wife, Laura, Alyssa, Alex, Jessica, and Benjamin and his wife, Shantel, Carl and Cord Dallman. He was predeceased by his sister Gloria, and his brother-in-law Carl Weymouth.

Relatives and friends may join the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville, CT 06066.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at St. Catherine Church, Broad Brook. Burial will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, East Windsor.
