Linwood E. White, 88, of Tolland, beloved husband of the late Betty (Dempster) White, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Caribou, Maine, son of the late Albert and Helen White. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following the war he owned and operated White's Cab Service in Caribou before moving to Tolland. Prior to his retirement he was a self-employed carpenter. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a master Mason, and Shriner.
He is survived by his son, Linwood A. White of Tolland; his daughter, Kathy White of Arizona; his granddaughter, Naomi; and several nieces and nephews. Linwood was predeceased by three brothers, Kenneth White, Lendall White, and Clarence White; and a sister, Marjorie White.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at noon at Dunn's Corner Baptist Church, 238 Wings Mills Road, in Mount Vernon, Maine. Burial with military honors will be in the Stevens Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
