Lorna M. (Peterson) Kmiec, 90, of South Windsor and formerly of Manchester, beloved wife of the late John J. Kmiec Sr., died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at an area convalescent home.

She was born Aug. 7, 1922, in Elizabeth, N.J., daughter of the late Frank Peterson and Victoria (Kempes) Peterson/Bliss, and had been a resident of Manchester for nearly 70 years before recently moving to South Windsor. Lorna was an avid bowler and golfer as well as a member of St. James Church in Manchester, the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Club Retirees Group, and the Manchester Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by three children, John J. Kmiec Jr., and his wife, Charleene, of Tolland, Laurie Englehart of Colchester, and Steven M. Kmiec, and his wife, Linda, of Coventry; six grandchildren, Kristin, Maggie, Taylor, Victoria, Jessica, and Jodi; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Norman Peterson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at 10:15 a.m. at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 E. Center St., Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in the East Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held today, Tuesday, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
