Louise (Hohmuth) Bowen, 95, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late James P. Bowen, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in Manchester.

Louise was born on Sept. 26, 1917, in Saxony, Germany, daughter of the late Kurt and Helene (Boden) Hohmuth, and had resided in Manchester since 1952. She was a graduate of Bulkeley High School; Class of 1935 B. Louise was a member of the Turner Bund Athletic Club in Hartford and a former Girl Scout leader at the former Lincoln School in Manchester. Prior to her retirement she was employed in the cafeteria at Illing Middle School and later Manchester High School.
Louise is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Christine Bowen of Weddington, N.C.; her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Stephen Emerson of Manchester; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Charlotte Provost of Springfield, Mass., and a daughter-in-law, Deberah Bowen of Manchester. In addition to her husband and parents, Louise was predeceased by her son James E. Bowen and her daughter Joyce Chalifoux.
Louise's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Crestfield Rehabilitation for their kind and compassionate care over the years.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013, from 9:30 to 10 a.m., with a service to begin at 10 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester.
Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
