Marilyn E. (Seely) Scussell, 83, of Stafford Springs, entered peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Evergreen Health Care Center.

She was born June 28, 1929, in Marblehead, Mass., daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothy (Rogers) Seeley. She started her love of traveling early in life, growing up in Los Angeles, Calif., before moving back to Putnam, Conn. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, she began her career as a teacher at Stafford High School. She taught math at Stafford High School for 26 years, retiring in 1984. She had a formidable presence in the classroom, but she truly enjoyed and treasured her students. After retirement, she absolutely loved the trips she took with family exploring new locations in the United States and abroad. Marilyn was named Citizen of the Month for the Town of Stafford for her 14-year service as town representative to the Catchment Area Council to the Regional Mental Health Board. She was also a member of the Stafford Springs Congregational Church, Stafford Women's Club, and the Stafford Library Association.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Mano G. Scussell; three children, Roger Scussell of Brooklyn, Brian Scussell, and his wife, Bea, of Stafford Springs, and Melanie Joy, and her husband, Win, of East Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a funeral service to take place at 11 a.m. at Introvigne Funeral Home Inc., 51 E. Main St., Stafford Springs. Burial will follow in Elmvale Cemetery, Woodstock.

The family would like to thank all of those that provided her care and comfort at Evergreen Health Care Center.

Memorial donations may be made to the Marilyn Scussell Fund, Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of Stafford, c/o Rose Roszczewski, P.O. Box 25, Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
