Marjorie A. (Reid) Martin, 80, of Bolton, wife of the late Richard E. Martin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018.

She was born in Manchester on Sept. 25, 1938, to the late Raymond and Viola (Shearer) Reid. Marj grew up in Manchester, attended local schools and was a graduate of Manchester High School, Class of 1956. She moved to Bolton in 1972 and has resided there for the last 46 years. Marj was been interested in antiques since a young age. She was the granddaughter of Robert M. Reid of Robert M. Reid & Sons Auctioneers. She worked with Ray and Viola who carried on the business. After graduating from Westbrook College in Maine, she worked for Whitney Chain before going into the antique business full time. She remained in the business until she passed away, making many friends and gaining a wealth of knowledge. She never missed a show at Brimfield, whether at Auction Acres or later at J&J Promotions, both of which were Reid family ventures. One of her other favorite events was the Second Congregational Church Antiques Show which she ran for many years. She took on that task when Ray and Viola (who started the show) retired from the position. Throughout her life, she was always looking for the next special item and the next great deal. Her family and friends knew she had a much better time buying than selling. In addition to her love for antiques, she enjoyed spending time outdoors in her gardens and with her loving family and friends.

Marj is survived by her son, Reid Martin and his wife, Sara Hinckley of Georgia and their daughter, Marj's granddaughter, Stella Martin. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Reid. In addition to her husband and parents, Marj was predeceased by her brother, Robert Reid.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, at Second Congregational Church, 385 N. Main St., Manchester. Burial will follow in Buckland Cemetery, Manchester.
