Mary Margaret Amundsen, 86, of Moody Hollow, Center Tuftonboro, N.H., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at her residence after a long illness, with her family by her side.

Mary was born on July 9, 1926, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Velma Young.
Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, Warren Richard Amundsen; her sons, Richard Amundsen, and his wife, Alicia, of Bolton, and Bruce Amundsen, and his wife, Lisa, also of Bolton; brother, William Ayre (Barbara) of Nassau, N.Y.; sisters, Maureen Horan (John) of Strafford, N.H., Marcia Norman (John) and Patricia Hussey (John), both of Dover, N.H.; her sister-in-law, BettyJane Amundsen of Center Tuftonboro, who made her home with Mary and Warren; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary was predeceased by her mother, Velma; and a special aunt, Alicia Young; as well as her in-laws, Gurlie (Moody) Amundsen and Otto Amundsen.
The family is grateful for her caregivers who provided comfort, compassion, and dignity for Mary: Teri Smart, Doug Thompson, Cindy Smart, and Anna Smart. You are truly angels on Earth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's behalf to New Hampshire SPCA, or Central New Hampshire Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice.
A memorial service was held at noon on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Wolfeboro Inn with the Rev. Richard Rhodes officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, N.H.
