Merton Wallace Meldrum, 71, of Coventry, passed away Friday.

He was born to the late Wallace and Lora Meldrum, Aug. 6, 1941, in Kingfield, Maine. He married Joan (Marean) Meldrum in 1967, and they lived together in Coventry. Merton was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He worked as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney for 27 years, twice winning the Suggestion Award for his ideas for improvement. He was an active member of Community Baptist Church in Manchester. He loved the outdoors and spent as much time fishing, hunting, and camping as he could.

Merton is survived by his wife, Joan; two brothers, Vernon Meldrum and Raymond Meldrum; his children, David Meldrum and Karen (Meldrum) Watson; his son-in-law, Greg Watson; and his granddaughter, Maggie Watson.
