Michael William Hlasny of Vernon, departed this life Sept. 16, 2018.

He was born July 11, 1961. He attended Hall High in West Hartford where he played in the jazz band. He graduated from Ellington High School, Ellington. He earned his electronics degree from New England Technical Institute. Mike was a jack of all trades (appliances, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical). Mike was a big-hearted, generous soul with a contagious laugh. He was a die-hard Patriots/Red Sox Fan. He had a love for animals, playing darts, and music, especially the saxophone and singing in his band.

Mike is survived by his mother, Joan Hollister; his sisters, Sharon Hollister and Patricia Tingley, all of Florida; and his brother, Mark (Laurie) of Vernon. He is also survived by his stepson, Brian Dorman; his nieces and nephews, Heidi (Steve), Sara (Cesare), Matthew (Melanie), Megan (Marshall), Jacqueline, and Russell Jr. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Hlasny; his stepfather, Charles Hollister; and nephew, Christopher McNally Jr.

A graveside service will be held Oct. 13, at 10 a.m. at Grove Hill Cemetery, Vernon, followed by a celebration of life at the Maple Grove Club, Vernon.
