Mirdza "Mitzi" Labrencis, 92, of Manchester, wife of the late Janis Labrencis, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Jaunpils, Latvia, on June 4, 1920, daughter of the late Arvids and Alma Vaselnieks. Mitzi and her family immigrated to the United States in 1950 and resided in Manchester for almost 60 years. Prior to her retirement, she was happily employed as a dietary aide at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Mitzi had many interests, including working in her garden and creating a variety of handicrafts. She loved animals and especially enjoyed the outdoors and anything to do with nature. Mitzi's warm spirit and positive attitude touched many lives, and her family and friends feel blessed to have known her.

Mitzi is survived by her son Juris, and his wife, Karen, of Vernon; her two very special granddaughters and their husbands, Jessica Labrencis and her husband, Jonathan Fisch, of San Diego, Calif., and Kristen McCartney and her husband, Brent, of Glastonbury. She is also survived by her son Ilmars and his girlfriend, Robin Legere, of Sweden, Maine; and her sister, Rasma Ile, and her family in Latvia. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son Leroy.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, at the American Latvian Lutheran Church in Manchester. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester.
