Pearl T. (Tedford) Manager, 89, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, Friday, Jan. 18, 2013.

She was born June 6, 1923, on the family farm on Birch Mountain, Manchester. She was the daughter of the late John J. Tedford and Frances (Volkert). Pearl was the loving wife of the late Thomas G. Manager Sr. for 49 special years. Pearl graduated from Manchester High School in 1942. During her lifetime she enjoyed being an active participant in Pratt & Whitney women's softball team during World War II, den mother for her sons in the Cub Scouts, Packs No. 47 and No. 258 (1958), member of the Bolton Grange (1947), National Grange, Hillstown Grange, charter member of the Glastonbury Yacht Club (1958), member of the Tolland Extension Service (1943), former president of the Bolton Homemakers, and founding charter member of Mystic Aquarium (1973). She was awarded the prestigious "Homemaker of the Year" award in 1990, by the Tolland Extension Homemakers Council. She was an avid bowler with the "Lucky Ladies" bowling league on the "Sashettes" Team. Pearl was also a longtime member of the Glastonbury Fire Department, Co. One Ladies Auxiliary. Pearl was employed by Pratt & Whitney during World War II, as well as Hartford Manufacturing. She later was the bookkeeper for the family business, Tommy's Oil and Service, in addition to being a full-time homemaker. Pearl loved spending her days quilting, sewing, and crafting. She always looked forward to her competitive Friday night set back games with her siblings. Pearl was amazingly active all through her life enjoying trips on her boat, riding her own ATV on her daughter's farm in Vermont, and traveling. But her most enjoyment was spent loving and enjoying her family.

Pearl's warm smile and loving advice will always be remembered by her four children, Edward and wife, Joyce, of Hebron, Thomas Jr.(Chip) of Glastonbury, Jean Rogers and companion, James Schmartz, of Glastonbury and Sandra Manager and husband, James Dube, of Rocky Hill. She also leaves her 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sisters, Grace Tedford (her identical twin and best friend), Louise Randall, Gladys Woodin; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Deborah Tedford. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Charles, Donald, and John V. Tedford; and sisters, Jane Maneggia and Mary Tedford.

Pearl's family would like to extend their greatest gratitude to their mother's very special caretaker, Halina, along with hospice friends, Margie, Edith, and June, for the care given over the past months.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Thursday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 2584 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Glastonbury.
