Penelope M. Nason, 82, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late James M. Nason, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Manchester Manor.
She was born July 10, 1930, in Hartford, daughter of the late James and Katherine (Asmany) Morianos and has been a resident of Manchester most of her life. She attended local schools, graduated from Manchester High School, earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Central Connecticut State College and attained another master's degree from St. Joseph's College. Mrs. Nason was a teacher with the Manchester Board of Education and had taught at Bowers School for many years before retirement. She continued as a substitute teacher for many years as well. Penelope was a longtime member of Center Congregational Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn N. Hogan of Centerbrook; four grandchildren, Daniel, Jessica, Michael, and Scott Hogan; and great-granddaughter Sahara Galindo. Other survivors include her brother, J. Anthony "Tony" Morianos, and his wife, Diane, of Florida; brother-in-law, J. Robert Moriconi, and his wife, Barbara, of Vernon; sister-in-law, Patricia Morianos of Bolton; as well as three stepchildren and several nieces and nephews. Penelope was predeceased by her brother, John Morianos, and sister, Martha Moriconi.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be private in the East Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
