Raymond J. Merlo Jr., 69, of Windsor Locks, loving husband of Janet (Zenzick) Merlo, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital.

Ray was born Aug. 5, 1943, in Hartford, the loving son of the late Raymond Sr. and Anne (Mikalonis) Merlo. He was raised in East Windsor and moved to Windsor Locks in 1972. He was a parishioner of St. Mary Church. Ray enjoyed gardening, fishing, and shopping and was an avid fan of the New York Giants, but loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his four children, Raymond J. Merlo III of Windsor Locks, Regina Flynn and her husband, Michael, of Windsor Locks, Ronald Merlo and his wife, Diane, of Mattapoisett, Mass., and Ryan Merlo and his wife, Kelly, of South Windsor. He is also survived by a brother, Richard Merlo and his wife, Patricia, of Broad Brook; three sisters, Christine Miarecki and her husband, Walter, Gail Sweeney, and Marian Higgins, all of Broad Brook; and seven loving grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Pa."

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Friday, May 24, 2013, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks.

A funeral service for Ray will be celebrated on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
