Richard Balboni, 45, a lifetime resident of Manchester, passed away on May 20, 2013, at home with family.

Rick, an avid camper and Halloween enthusiast, loved spending time with his wife, Patty, and their four teenage children, Stephanie, Kristen, Rachael, and Andrew. A 1985 graduate of East Catholic High School and 1989 graduate of the University of Connecticut, he worked in the life insurance industry for 22 years, last at Aetna.

Rick is also survived by four sisters and their families, Justina Pang and her partner, Ed Jardine, in Florida, Bernadette and Michael Hennessy in Bolton, Theresa and Joel Grout in Manchester, and Imelda Balboni in California; his in-laws, Michael and Jeanne Torello in North Carolina; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and John Mandeville in Cromwell. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Elena Balboni: brothers, Robert and Kenneth; and sister, Kathleen Balboni.

Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, on Thursday, May 23, from 4 to 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Church, Manchester. Friends and family are asked to go directly to church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center Fund Development Office, Hartford Hospital, P.O. Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06101-9960, where he received exceptional care; or to the Hartford VNA, who provided excellent care and compassionate support for his family.

The family would like to thank all of the family, friends, and co-workers who provided loving support, especially during his most recent battle with cancer.
