Richard J. Pinkerton, 79, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest Monday, May 14, 2018, in the comfort of his home with loved ones at his side.

He was born March 18, 1939, in Springfield to the late John Richard and Cecile (Paradis) Pinkerton. Richard was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Springfield, then furthered his education at Western New England College. He had resided in Enfield most of his life. He was employed with Hamilton Standard, National Semi Conductor, and retired from AAA Aircraft Supply, Enfield. In his leisure time he enjoyed building and refinishing furniture, NASCAR auto racing, was always tinkering on his Monte Carlo SS, and spending time with his family.

Richard is survived by his wife of 24 years, Martha (Ritchotte) Pinkerton; his two loving daughters, Debbie Rinaldi (Bill) of Enfield and Cheryl Provost (Larry) of Enfield; two stepchildren, Jim Martocchio of Windsor and Gina Beebe (Gary) of Windsor Locks; two grandchildren, Sara Colson and Alison Beebe; his siblings, Carol Pomeroy of Massachusetts, Sandra Balch of Enfield, Robert Pinkerton of Chicopee, Massachusetts, and Anne Pinkerton and partner, Jim Powell, of Holyoke, Massachusetts; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two nieces, Jennifer Pinkerton and Kristen Comptois; two nephews, Richard and David Comptois; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Balch.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family Friday, May 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windsor.
