Robert A. Romanick, 88, of Tolland, widower of Betty (Damman) Romanick, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at Rockville General Hospital.

He was born April 29, 1925, in Pipestone, Mich., the son of the late Martin and Mary (Suchochi) Romanick. Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific. He was a former president and captain of the Tolland Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Italian American Club, and the Romanowski Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Michigan.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Michael and Raymonde Romanick, Janis and Daniel Bureau, Kevin and Odile Romanick, all of Tolland; grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, and her husband, Trevor, Zachary Romanick, Nicholas Romanick; two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Trevor Jones Jr.; two sisters, Eleanor and Dolores.

Relatives and friends may join the family Thursday, May 23, 2013, at St Joseph Church, 33 West St., Rockville, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Military honors will take place at the church following his funeral Mass. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tolland Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 827, Tolland CT 06084.
