Robert F. Bigda, 73, a lifelong resident of Enfield, died late Sunday afternoon, Nov. 25, 2012, at Johnson Memorial Hospital, with his loving wife, Carol, at his side.

He was born in Hartford, a son of Pauline (Haber) Bigda Reichert and the late Francis Bigda. Bob was employed as a finish carpenter for several years at the Sweet Heart Flute Company located in the Powder Hollow section of Enfield until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed walking, hiking, and all forms of wildlife with his devoted wife of 45-years, Carol (Usher) Bigda. Bob also loved spending time with his four beloved collies, Heidi, Shane, Laddie, and Lady. He also enjoyed the fruits of his hard-earned labor in the garden, sharing his crops with family and friends. One of Bob's favorite hobbies was occasionally playing his saxophone which he began playing as a young child in school.
Besides his wife, he leaves his mother, Pauline H. Reichert and her husband, Francis, of Suffield; a brother, Richard Bigda and his wife, Nyoka, of the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Croix; as well as several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
A private service will be held at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapel with burial to follow at Hazardville Cemetery, both in Enfield.
