Robert "Bob" William Starratt Sr. died Nov. 8, 2012 at Manchester Hospital in Manchester.

Bob was born on Dec. 21, 1924 in Dedham, Mass., the son of Harry and Anna Gates Starratt. He attended elementary and junior high school in Dedham, leaving prior to entering high school to assist his family financially. He joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in December 1946.
Bob was predeceased by his first wife of 19 years, Corinne Desveaux. Together they raised four children, John Starratt (deceased); Robert Starratt and special friend, Nancy, of North Vassalboro, Maine; Randy and Lorna Bradstreet of Albion, Maine; and Jim and Nancy Doore of Albion, Maine. He also has an adopted daughter, Pamela, with his second wife, Leota Warren of Clinton, Maine.
Bob is survived by his wife of 22 years, Wilma Doherty Starratt, in Vernon and her children, Ronald and Marge Cote of Hazardville and Robert Ives of Vermont. He also has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Maine, Georgia, Connecticut and Vermont. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Ralph, and sisters, Monola Simms and Marian Rania. Bob was an exceptional mechanic in various vocations. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his favorite friend and loyal companion, Bucky, whom he loved deeply.
There will be a celebration of his life's journey on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 from 11 a.m. to noon with the service directly following at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road in Vernon. The burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Avenue in Hartford immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Visiting Nurses & Health Services of Connecticut, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066, for without them Bob's final journey would have been much more difficult.
