Rocco James Weiss, 33, of Enfield, passed from his earthly journey Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center, Hartford, with loved ones at his side.

He was born on May 9, 1985, in Hartford to Michael Weiss and Joy (DiNino) McInnis. Rocco grew up in East Windsor and was a graduate of East Windsor High School. He had resided in East Windsor and Enfield. Everything Rocco did was large. His love of food… BBQ and seafood. His love of footwear… my lord, the sneakers! His love of animals… especially his girl Gemma who shared is home, heart, and soul. The TVs and cars… all large.

But the largest thing about Rocco was his heart, his love for family and friends. He had the ability to make all those he connected with feel he cared for them, understood what they were going through and what they needed to feel better, to feel valued, and to feel loved. He had an almost supernatural empathy with the outsider, the heart-hurt, the lost. He felt all these things himself. He longed to find his own family, his place in this world. He knew the pain of others, because it was his pain as well. He wrapped us all in his big arms and held us close, hugged hard, and let us all know he understood. He loved us and was there for each of us to help anyway he could. He was a sweet, kind, gentle soul. May he find in his next chapter of existence the peace, calm, and comfort he gave to all of us here before he had to leave.

Rocco is survived by his father, Michael Weiss and Sue George of Ellington; his mother and stepfather, Joy (DiNino) and Michael McInnis of Bartlett, Tennessee; maternal grandfather, Larry DiNino of Enfield; aunts and uncles, Larry DiNino and wife, Evelyn, of New Tazewell, Tennessee, Stephen DiNino and wife, Glenda, of Houston, Texas, and Pamela Shultz and husband, Ted, of Mesa, Arizona; his cousins, Steven Cusson of Tolland, Seve Weiss of Hinsdale, New Hampshire, Ashley Weiss of Woodruff, South Carolina, Larry DiNino III of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Anthony DiNino of Virginia Beach, and Natalia Chappell of Chesapeake, Virginia. Rocco was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Frederick and Jospehine Weiss; his maternal grandmother, Joan DiNino; and his uncle, Steven Weiss.

Relatives and friends may gather Wednesday, Oct. 10, for a visitation period from 3 to 7 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations in Rocco's name may be made to the CT Humane Society 701, Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111, or the CT Chapter, 825 Brood St., I91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
