Sandra C. (Insolia) Rider, 74, of Enfield, devoted wife of Leigh H. Rider Jr. for 54 years, and daughter of the late Lena (Regina) and Salvatore C. Insolia, entered into eternal peace Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the Hebrew Home and Hospital in West Hartford.

Sandra, born in Hartford, resided much of her life in Farmington until 2007, when Sandra and Leigh moved to Enfield. She was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy. She was employed for over 30 years as owner and operator of Holly Tree Campground in Ashaway, R.I., (1981-88) and Lake Williams Campground in Lebanon (to present). Sandra was an active member of the Connecticut Campground Owners Association. She was a communicant of St. Bernard Church in Enfield. A long time member of the Grange Association, she thoroughly enjoyed the Spirit of Broadway Theater in Norwich. She was also an avid pianist since age 5 and an animal lover, leaving behind her "kitty," Jasmen.

Besides her husband, Leigh; she is survived by her four children, Joseph Rider and his wife, Rosemary, of Bristol, Brian Rider and Linda Hutt of Farmington, Patrick Rider and Cynthia of Farmington, and Leann Rider and Greg Cousens of North Stonington; her grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Chris, Dustin, Christopher, James, Kristy, Meagan, and Daniel; a great-granddaughter, Hailey; her sister, Frances Shaknaitis; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Rider of Westerly, R.I., and Dennis Rider of Enfield; and her sister-in-law, Janice and husband, Paul Margolfo, of Enfield. Sandra was surrounded by a large loving family, including all her treasured nieces and nephews. She also leaves an abundance of cousins from both sides of the family all over the country, including a best friend, Elaine Insolia Williams, who was like a sister. Babe Hembling and Bev Siano were also two of the many friends she held dearly. She was predeceased by two sisters-in-law, Karen Rider and Darlene Colapinto. Sandra "Mom" fought an endearing and courageous battle against cancer. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Family and friends will gather 9 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, for a procession to St. Bernard Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal will follow at Hazardville Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels.
