Shirley May (Flavell) Riley, 88, of South Windsor, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012.

Shirley was born in Manchester on May 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Walter and Nellie (Tradd) Flavell. She was a graduate of Manchester High School in June 1943. Shirley served in World War II in the U.S. Navy Waves. She retired from Purdy Corp. of Manchester as an Executive Secretary in 1989.
Shirley leaves behind her loving daughter, Cheryl Benoit and her husband, Jim, and grandson, James; her sister, Doris; and many extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Richard I. Riley; her loving sister, Margaret "Peggy" Wright Adams; and her most precious granddaughter, Kimberly Anne Benoit.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at St. George Episcopal Church, 1150 Boston Turnpike, Bolton. Burial will follow at Bolton Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Department of Connecticut, 35 Cold Spring Road, Ste. 315, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT.
