Sophie Kineas-Regas 97, of Enfield passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in the comfort of her home. She was predeceased by her husbands, Gregory Kineas and William Regas.

Sophie was born on Dec. 24, 1916, in Paterson, N.J., the daughter of the late Thomas and Chrysanthi (Chachmas) Williams. She moved to the U.S. in January 1947 from Greece and resided in Enfield for many years. She was formerly employed by Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. and Royal Typewriter and retired from the Enfield Board of Education after 28 years as a custodian at Kosciuszko Junior High School and Enrico Fermi High School. She was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church & Society. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Sophie was an avid sports fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, and New England Patriots.
Sophie is survived by her three loving daughters, Helen K. Smith and husband, Francis, Catherine Staples and husband, Robie, and Alice Kineas and husband, Lee Fusselman, all of Enfield; her five cherished grandchildren, Beth, Robie Jr., Jacqueline, Gregory, and Thomas; and two adored great-grandchildren, Sophia and Nathan; along with several nieces and nephews and several family members in Lemnos, Greece. She was predeceased by a sister, Arete Laskaris, and a brother, William Vasiliou.
Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.
The funeral service will take place on Monday, March 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 400 Prospect St., East Longmeadow, Mass. Interment will follow in the Enfield Street Cemetery, Enfield.
