Stanley Francis Wrona, 86, of Ellington, beloved husband of the late Genevieve "Jean" (Lukasiewski) Wrona, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

Born and raised in Rockville, son of the late Joseph and Stephania (Igielska) Wrona, he worked for over 40 years as a maintenance mechanic at the Amerbelle Corp., where he also served as the local textile mills union president for many years. Stan loved nothing better than a good, honest "fight" with management, especially when he won. Stan was very proud of the house he built in Ellington with his son, Michael, and his late brother, Bill. He was an avid Red Sox fan and a twilight league baseball player in his youth. He also loved to dance and he and Jean would always be the envy of the ballroom floor wherever they danced; they were especially fond of polkas.

Stanley leaves behind his loving children, daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Robert Brown of Avon, Sandra and Ronald Casner of Houston, Texas; and his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Barbara Wrona of Ellington; his grandchildren, Amy Casner of Houston, Texas, Christopher Casner of Baltimore, Md., Dr. Michael Casner of Nashville, Tenn., Stephanie Wrona of Vernon, and Cassandra Wrona of Mt. Kisco, N.Y.; his great-grandchildren, Shawn and Jessica Dzurec of Houston, Texas; his sister, Stephanie Wrona of Rockville; and his brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Jane Lukas of Chicopee, Mass.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Marion, and William, and his sister, Anna.

Relatives and friends may gather on Friday, April 26, at St. Joseph Church, Rockville, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Rockville.

Relatives and friends may call at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, on Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163.

The Wrona family would like to express its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Kimberly Hall South for the professionalism, care, and compassion that they gave to Stanley in his final days. Deep appreciation and special thanks go out to Dr. Michael and Mrs. Sharon and their exceptional staff, Dr. Anthony Distefano, Dr. Mohamed Hassan, whose vast knowledge and dedication in their fields of expertise provided Stan with a longer, happier, and greatly enhanced quality of life.
