Theresa (Matthews) Sumski, 91, of Vernon, beloved wife to Edward Sumski for 70 years, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at Fox Hill Nursing Home in Vernon.

She was born May 3, 1927, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to the late Frank and Emma (Harbour) Matthews. She and Ed moved to Connecticut in 1951 and have been residents of Vernon since 1964. She was an avid bowler and her team won the state championship in 1978. Getting together with her "knitting ladies" was always a treat for her.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Janis Getz; her grandson, Chris Getz and his wife, Paige; and her great-grandson, Caden. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Donald Getz; four brothers, Leo, John, Mickey, and Ray Matthews; two sisters and their husbands, Lauretta and Al Trudel, and Irene and Paul Ouellette; two sisters-in-law, Gen Sumski, and Mary Lesiczka and her husband, Stanley; and her nephew, Richard Lesiczka.

Funeral services and burial are private and at the convenience of her family.
