Thomas J. Hughes, 75, of Manchester, the husband of the late Julia (O'Kane) Hughes, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Crestfield Nursing Home in Manchester.

Born in Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Spitz) Hughes. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had retired as a stock broker from Hartford National Bank after many years of service. Tom was a longtime member of the Washington Social Club and the Army/Navy Club in Manchester.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas J. Hughes Jr., and his girlfriend, Tracy Prims, of New Britain, and Brian Hughes, and his wife, Lilly, of Hartford; and his grandchildren, T.J., Julia, Michael, Angelo, and Alexis.
Tom's family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff, nurses, and doctors of both Manchester Manor and Crestfield.
Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. A graveside service will take place on Monday, March 3, at 10 a.m. at St. James Cemetery, 365 Broad St., Manchester.
