Walter J. Wojtas, 74, of Windsor Locks, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2014, at Kindred Healthcare.

Born May 9, 1939, in Hartford, he was the son of the late Walter S. and Caroline (Topor) Wojtas. A lifelong resident of Windsor Locks, Walter graduated from Windsor Locks High School and attended AI Prince Technical School. Walter proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army and worked with the Kennedy-Johnson administration as a presidential honor guard. Walter was employed with Stanadyne and with Hamilton Standard.
Walter will be greatly missed by his two children, Stephen Wojtas, and his wife, Brenda, of Windsor Locks and Danelle Godeck of East Windsor; his brother, Robert Wojtas, and his wife, Michele, of Windsor Locks; his sister, Sandra Sickman, and her husband, Edward, of Suffield; his four grandchildren, Sara and Jenna Wojtas and Emily and Heather Godeck; his two nephews, Matt Wojtas and Derek Sickman; his niece, Melissa Johnston; his six great-nieces and nephews; and his companion, Joan Simmons.
In accordance with the family's wishes funeral services for Walter will be held privately.
