Walter Joseph Kukulka, age 58, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in Phoenix, Ariz.

He was born in Springfield, a son of Jeanne Loftus Kukulka and the late (2009) Edmond F. Kukulka, and was raised in Enfield. He graduated from Enfield High School in 1972, and continued his education at the University of Connecticut. He received his master's degree in landscape architecture at the University of Virginia. He became a real estate developer in Redding, moving to Arizona in 1995.
Besides his mother, he is survived by three daughters, Jocelyn, Whitney, and Charmagne of New York City and Washington, D.C.; his partner, Dr. Laurie Trapp; his brother, John and wife, Elizabeth Hanson of Ridgefield, and their son, Ian, of Boston; his sister, Kathryn, and her partner, William Haebler, of Laguna Beach, Calif.; and his former wife, Diane Kukulka.
A Mass in celebration of Walter's life was held Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the Church of Our Lady of the Angels at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale, Ariz.
